GETTING INVOLVED

aebal is.....

......a small, family run social support service which specialises in helping people build confidence and independence out in the community.

We do this by creating fun, supportive, safe social environments and providing mainstream activities and opportunities to help make the community a more inclusive and open minded place.

Everyone deserves to feel like they are understood, accepted and belong. These are the foundations for the human condition and essential for emotional well-being.  Our support acts as a bridge to help our clients overcome adversity, feelings of isolation and low self-esteem. Our approach encourages our clients to start to believe in themselves, embrace their uniqueness and create some meaningful friendships and social connections out in the community.

aebal is accessed by a wide range of people with varying needs and of all ages (from 16 years old to mid 60s).

The funding process

aebal is predominantly accessed by people who have received a care and support assessment from their local social care team / mental health team and have been deemed eligible for a Personal Budget.

We are a Commissioned Service with Nottingham City Council as part of their CSE (Care, support and Enablement) Framework and a Direct Payment Service with Nottinghamshire County Council, so depending where you live there are slightly different processes for how to get involved with us through local authority.

Regardless of the area you live in however, the criteria of eligibility will be the same and, if eligible for a Personal Budget, your local social care or mental health team will create a care and support plan with you which will state how many hours of weekly support you are entitled to.

aebal specialise in small group support enabling people to access the community, to become more active, to gain more independence and to form new friendships. If this is something you feel you are in need of we recommend you contact your social care team to explain you are interested in introducing aebal to your care and support plan.

Alternatively, some of our clients self-fund their weekly support hours if they don't have a social care team or personal budget which is another way to get involved with aebal.

If you do not have a social care team and want to have a care and support assessment to find out if you are eligible for a Personal Budget, please click here to enter your postcode and start the process.

There is also an impartial information and advice service available called Ask Us Nottingham. They can provide help with accessing care and support services, contacting social care teams and assistance with funding applications. Click here to visit 'Ask Us' Nottingham.

However, if you are all set and ready to give aebal a go, then follow the steps below! (bit of a rhyme there)

_____________________

If all parties are happy to start support, we will usually speak to your social care team to arrange a start date and to clarify support hours. Typically this is within 4 weeks of the home visit. We commence support with a gentle 6-week introduction to the service and an opportunity to meet other staff and clients. Each week will involve different activities and different sessions so you can get a feel for which ones work for you and which ones don't. Jason will oversee this introduction period and ensure the new activities and new faces are introduced at a manageable pace.

______________________

At the end of the 6-week introduction period we will arrange another home visit with you to discuss how you are finding the service, whether you are happy to continue and which sessions you would like to have as your regular ones. If all parties are happy we will officially register you with the service and email you your Session Timetable which states how your weekly hours will be used and what your regular aebal sessions will be. The following week your ongoing aebal support will commence!
