BEHIND OUR ACTIVITIES
"We want our clients to find enjoyment in our activities, and then discover who they are through that enjoyment.
We provide the social environments to enable people to embrace the 'now' and take a break from unnecessary pressures and expectations."
....community activities and opportunities we provide are very much at the forefront of our support.
Supporting people to become more physically active, independent and sociable out the community has proven to have significant mental health benefits.
Behind these activities however, there is a very thoughtful, intuitive and mindful group of people who are also willing to support with emotional well being.
Over the many years we've been supporting people and from our own mental health experiences, we have come to understand that our clients don't want to feel like they are being "looked after", or the only reason for us being there is to meet a support outcome.
They want to be understood, listened to and for the person supporting them to be a relatable, genuine and imperfect human being!
By forming open and trusting relationships and by providing calm and safe environments, our clients often take the opportunity to confide in us.
We are not psychologists or therapists and are aware of both our limitations as a service and the complexities of mental health conditions.
What we are able to do however, is listen, mentor and help untangle thoughts and feelings to provide alternative perspective and emotional guidance.
These types of conversations are fundamental to our support approach and equally as important as the mainstream activities and the independence related outcomes we provide.
We want every aebal session to be an authentic, meaningful and energising experience. We hope our support empowers our clients to feel more positive about the future, more confident about who they are and they learn to enjoy the opportunities life can bring.

Although we are advocates of mindfulness, we also know there is a limit to how helpful working through thoughts and feelings can be. Sometimes you just need to be wheeled around a room inside a tractor tyre with a bunch of mates. We provide this too! Being playful, childlike and acting like a clown can be hugely important in improving mental health!
