Stuart (twice published in the Nottingham Post) would like to share one of his oldest (and we think one of his best) poems.
Here it is, we hope you enjoy reading:
To Harbour a Feeling
Could I but harbour a feeling,
Tie it down so it wouldn't escape.
Could I but box a sensation,
And wrap it in sticky tape.
Could I but enjoy working,
Then I would appreciate rest.
Could I but feel elation,
Without later becoming depressed.
Could I but organise my mind,
And put memories in some sort of order.
Could I but spend the rest of my days
In excitement and away from boredom.
Could I but feel pure happiness,
Undiluted by fear or hate.
Could I but sail pole to pole,
And not once be made to wait.
So could I but harbour a feeling,
And then hope that it shall stay with me.
And when I have harboured my feeling
I would like you to sail with me.
